Before the Game
You don’t need massive preparation in order to create a successful game experience, but here are a few things that can make a difference:
• Think about who you are playing with, the size of the group, the room and time available
• Tell the participants why you invite them to play, and what you would like to see as an outcome (e.g. new insights, learning from peers, leadership development)
The games are designed to minimise the need for facilitation. As a game organiser or facilitator, you can either observe and listen to the conversations or join a team as a player.
All you need to do is set up the room so that teams of 3 to 6 people play around each game set.
After the Game
A good way to finish up the game is to record your key insights.
As a wrap-up, you may want to ask everyone a question, such as:
• What was your key insight?
• What was your favourite question?
• How did your group play as a team?
Tips for Introducing Insights Game
Briefly, introduce the purpose of the game:
“Each of you is about to begin a quest for insights. The insights will come from seeing in (in-sight), connecting your own ideas and reflecting with others.
The goal is to answer spontaneously to the questions and let yourself be carried by the connections which will come naturally.
As you play, you can write down questions or insights which particularly resonate with you. At the end of the game, you will all share an insight and you can make a commitment to take action.”
